the East is inferior in quality to Western competition.

PHILADELPHIA -- Despite all the changes made in the front office and behind the bench, Ryan Kesler was not satisfied with the Vancouver Canucks path. Flyers Jersey. He still wanted out. "It just seemed like the direction they were going didnt fit what I thought my career was going to be," Kesler said. "At the end of the day I want to win a championship and I want to win it now, and four years is a little too long for me." Not wanting the situation to "fester" like the Roberto Luongo saga did under his predecessor, general manager Jim Benning sought a quick resolution to that problem. He found it Friday by trading Kesler and a 2015 third-round pick to the Anaheim Ducks for centre Nick Bonino, defenceman Luca Sbisa and the 24th and 85th picks in this weekends NHL draft. "He just felt he needed a fresh start and quite frankly we dont want somebody that doesnt want to be here," Benning said Friday afternoon before the draft began. "Were going to acquire high-quality people that are going to come in here and want to work hard for one another, so we didnt give it much thought." Kesler, who turns 30 in August, asked for a trade during what he called a "painful" regular season full of losing that ended without a playoff appearance and ultimately cost GM Mike Gillis and coach John Tortorella their jobs. He met with Benning after the season and reiterated that he wanted to go somewhere he could win. But the Livonia, Mich., native wouldnt go anywhere. His full no-trade clause allowed him to dictate his destination, and the only two teams hed approve a trade to were the Ducks and Chicago Blackhawks. Benning said the Canucks asked Kesler and agent Kurt Overhardt about expanding that list, but to no avail. Chicago was "in it right until the end," according to Benning, but it was important to him to get a potential No. 2 centre and a player who could grow into a top-four defenceman. He hopes he has that in the 26-year-old Bonino and 24-year-old Sbisa. Bonino had 49 points this past season -- some of that thanks to playing with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry -- while Kesler had 43. Sbisa missed time with a torn tendon in his hand but has been considered a top prospect since before he was traded to Anaheim from the Philadelphia Flyers for Chris Pronger at the 2009 draft. "Getting Bonino was an important piece ... (for) being able to replace his goal production for our team next year," Benning said. "Getting Luca, he gives us some physical play from the back end. Hes strong. He plays like a heavy game and I think in our division his heaviness is going to come in handy for our group." When Benning wrapped up the Kesler trade Friday afternoon, he was just getting started making moves. The Canucks traded defenceman Jason Garrison to the Tampa Bay Lightning for the 50th pick in the draft and then flipped the 85th pick acquired from the Ducks to the New York Rangers for grinder Derek Dorsett. Trading Garrison brings salary-cap relief in the form of $4.6 million over the next four seasons. Acquiring Dorsett means some familiarity, as he played under Desjardins with the WHLs Medicine Hat Tigers. Despite the bevy of moves, Benning refused to call the Canucks approach a "rebuild." "We acquired players that we thought are going to have an impact on us winning next year," he said. "If it was going to be a rebuild then maybe we wouldnt have tried to fight so hard to get players that can come in and help our team win next year." If Kesler believed the Canucks, under the new direction of president Trevor Linden, Benning and coach Willie Desjardins, were going to win next year, he most likely wouldnt have asked to be traded. The 2003 first-round pick had played his entire career with the Canucks, all 655 games worth. But on his post-trade conference call, Kesler made it clear he wouldnt have been happy sticking around. "The fact that theyre in a rebuild and are looking to get younger and are years away from being a contender, I think it was just time for me to move on and win and hopefully take home a championship," Kesler said. Keslers fond memories of Vancouver included getting drafted, scoring his first goal (with an assist from Linden) and going to the Stanley Cup final in 2011. But much has changed since then, and the Canucks are a team in transition. The Ducks, on the other hand, consider themselves Cup contenders now after losing to the eventual-champion Los Angeles Kings in seven games in the Western Conference semifinals. But something had to be done to make that next step. "We knew we needed (a centre to play) behind Ryan Getzlaf," Anaheim GM Bob Murray said. "This is a huge move for our hockey team. Were better today than we were yesterday." Even though Murray was insistent from the beginning of negotiations that the Ducks were not willing to part with the No. 10 pick Friday night, the Canucks built toward being a better team down the line by getting a first-round pick at 24 and stockpiling with others. Vancouver took Calgary Hitmen winger Jake Virtanen, an Abbotsford, B.C., native and Canucks fan through childhood, with the sixth pick. Shoulder surgery will keep Virtanen from being able to take contact until at least the fall, but this was another move designed for the long-term future. In the short term, Kesler gets an opportunity to play behind Getzlaf for a contender, while the Canucks get to move on. "I didnt want this to linger," Benning said. Brayden Schenn Flyers Jersey . The deal is pending a physical, assistant general manager Bobby Evans said. Traded from Seattle to Baltimore on Aug. 30, Morse also can play first base and right field to give manager Bruce Bochy some flexibility in writing his lineup. Bernie Parent Flyers Jersey . The French judge ruled there wasnt enough proof the men were aware that self-described escort Zahia Dehar, now 21, was a minor at the time. The case has been hanging over the players since July 2010, when a French judge issued preliminary charges against them.A reality check. It was an all-around difficult night for Toronto FC at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. The Los Angeles Galaxy, the best team in Major League Soccer, put on a clinic a€“ not always dominant but absolute thorough in performance and approach a€“ in a 3-0 win over the Reds. Toronto FC wasna€?t that bad. The Galaxy were that good. The loss was a predictable set-back, one that Toronto FC Head Coach Greg Vanney seemed resigned to. A point would have been massive, and altogether unexpected against a team who has now scored an incredible 31 goals in their last 10 matches. And oh yeah, by the way, the Galaxy own the best defensive record in MLS as well. Vanneya€?s starting XI suggested wishful thinking. The play on the field backed up that assumption. Toronto FC had positive moments: Luke Moore going off the post in the 29th minute, better consistency in team shape, a willingness to put higher pressure on the ball rather than sitting back far too deep, and a spirited second half performance. These are small moral victories. Ita€?s points that are needed. With four games to go, winning is mandatory. 10 points from 12 would ensure playoff qualification. Nine points may be suffice. The best news with Columbus and New York still to play one another, Toronto FC controls their playoff destiny. All is to play for with Houston (Wednesday) and New York (Saturday) ahead this week. Here are my five thoughts coming out of Toronto FCa€?s 3-0 loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy. Rocking Robbie a€“ Two mistakes. Thata€?s all it takes for Robbie Keane to punish. Toronto FC was well aware of the threat posed by the Irishman in what has been an MVP caliber season for Keane, third in MLS in goals and tied for second in assists. The sloppy defending on the Galaxy striker in a span of three first half minutes was altogether disappointing. TFC started the match well, with Steven Caldwell and Nick Hagglund seemingly up for the challenge, with multiple timely blocks and important interjections. The positive start was compromised by a momentary lapse in the 22nd minute. Some wonderful passing and movement by Marcelo Sarvas carved open Toronto FC down the middle and ended with Keane getting wrong side on Steven Caldwell inside the box. All he needed was an arms-length worth of space from Torontoa€?s captain to take the deftest of touches before slotting home past Joe Bendik. A goal-scorers goal and one Caldwell will rue. Keane struck again three minutes later, finding himself wide open inside the 18 yard box to volley home from an AJ DeLaGarza cross. The non-existent marking was a head-scratcher, with Hagglund and Kyle Bekker merely spectators to Keanea€?s brilliance. The defending after the 25th minute was much better. But against a quality team as such and a natural finisher as Keane, room for error is minimal. And the points were relinquished in a blink of an eye. Defoe Returns a€“ Many believed it wouldna€?t happen. Most predicted the end. The naysayers were wrong. Jermain Defoe returned for Toronto FC, coming on as a 59th minute substitute replacing Daniel Lovitz. It was Defoea€?s first action since August 23rd recovering from a long-standing groin injury. Defoe looked decent in half an hour of action. Hea€?s a constant threat while on the ball. The problem remains he doesna€?t get the ball at his feet nearly enough. The service to Defoe remains erratic and must improve to get the most out of the player. His first touch of the match was a dangerous ball played across the six-yard box that was cleared away from danger. There is no question Toronto is a markedly improved team with Defoe in it. Vanney deciding to give Defoe a run-out while down 2-0 is a positive sign. The manager would have never risked Defoe if he were not entirely confident in the players fitness. Getting some game action was paramount, as Defoe will be relied upon heavily in the final four games. Torontoa€?s next three opponents have shaky backlines, ripe for Defoe to take advantage. Vanney Risk a€“ How much do your trust the new manager? The decision to leave Gilberto at home to rest the Brazilian striker raised many eye-brows. A designated player not featuring in an all-important game with just five matches to go for a team in desperate need of points fits the bill as questionable. Every point is precious, and leaving a player oof Gilbertoa€?s quality in Toronto is a calculated risk. Bobby Clarke Flyers Jersey. Ia€?m in no position to criticize as ita€?s far too premature to know if the decision will pay dividends. A fresh Gilberto is an absolute asset. Cross-country travel takes its toll. And better use the striker in more winnable matches. At least thata€?s the thought process. Give Vanney and the brain-trust credit: ita€?s a gusty decision. If Gilberto stars in the final four games, call it a move of tactical brilliance. If not, criticism will follow. Mark Bloom was likewise rested, nursing a knock (knee). In fairness, Bloom needs the rest, struggling to a degree after returning from an MCL injury suffered in July. Collen Warner and Defoe also started on the bench. There is no question a team with Bekker, Dominic Oduro shifted up front, and Warren Creavalle making a rare start is a weaker side. These decision however cannot be seen as game-altering, especially against the mighty Galaxy. Standard Set a€“ Last weeka€?s win over the Portland Timbers was a feel good moment: beating a team sitting in a playoff spot in a very good Western Conference is no small feat. Being at the level to compete with the Galaxy, the gold standard in MLS is another step yet to be taken altogether. The Galaxy are of the quality Toronto needs to aspire to. It doesna€?t just come through two marquee signings and/or just one off-season of positive changes. Ita€?s a gradual build. The star-power of the likes of Keane, Donovan and Omar Gonzalez is plain to see. Ita€?s squad consistency, players of quality who have been brought through the system who remain with the team for years on end which is key to team success. Los Angelesa€? blueprint under the leadership of Bruce Arena has developed incredible consistency and fluidity within the team. Finding and recognizing talent is paramount to the model. Second year striker and 16 goal scorer Gyasi Zardes is testament to talent recruitment and development. There is a disconnect between the Galaxy approach and the revolving door of players that have set-back Toronto FC season after season. Toronto FCa€?s front office is well aware of this. The Galaxy have the synergy of star power and squad depth Toronto FC will attempt to mirror themselves after. Feast on the East a€“ Toronto FC is done with the Western Conference. Four Eastern Conference games lay ahead (Houston, at New York, Montreal, at New England). That should make Toronto FC supporters very happy a€“ the East is inferior in quality to Western competition. It was mostly a good news weekend elsewhere in the East for TFC. Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Rais Mbohlia€?s mishit clearance in the 92nd minute Thursday gifted the Chicago Firea€?s Robert Earnshaw the ball. The former Toronto FC striker lobbed his effort past the Algerian international for the equalizer, ending in a 1-1 draw, standing as the most important goal he has ever scored to benefit TFC. The Union are a point back of Toronto in seventh with only three games to go. The only negative happening was the New York Red Bulls opening a four-point gap on Toronto with a 1-0 win over the Houston Dynamo. New York was dominant Saturday, with Thierry Henrya€?s 10th goal of the season the difference in the win. Good news for Toronto FC however, Tim Cahill was sent off shortly after coming on as a second half substitute. Cahill will miss next weekenda€?s match against Toronto while away on international duty, and will be suspended the following match against Columbus. A significant loss for the Red Bulls. The best news of the weekend was the New England Revolution beating the Columbus Crew 2-1, with Jermaine Jones scoring the winner in back-to-back weeks. The Columbus loss leaves the Crew fifth place in the conference, just three points up on Toronto with the Reds having a game in hand. The Revs are now in second place on 48 points: another positive with Toronto scheduled to play New England the final day of the season. That final meeting may be irrelevant for the Revs, having already clinched their playoff position, playing into Torontoa€?s favour. A positive context and schedule lay ahead for the Reds. Ita€?s a matter of Toronto FC taking advantage. A playoff berth is at stake. Next up for Toronto FC is an all-important home match against the Houston Dynamo Wednesday at 730pm ET on TSN 1, 3, 4, 5. cheap jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys Ray Ban Outlet Michael Kors Outlet Michael Kors Sale Cheap Michael Kors ' ' '

earlier than their ability suggests they should be picked

ATLANTA -- Another strong outing from Julio Teheran. Virgil Green Youth Jersey . Another clutch hit by Evan Gattis. It added up to another win for the Atlanta Braves. Gattis hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning after Teheran threw seven strong innings, leading the Braves past the Miami Marlins 4-2 on Monday night. Dan Uggla led off with a single up the middle off Arquimedes Caminero (0-1). Gattis followed with a shot into the left-field seats for his fifth homer of the season -- and first career walkoff homer, though he had numerous big hits his rookie year. "It feels good," Gattis said. "It feels different when you hit one and know the game is over." Coming off his first career complete game, Teheran turned in another stellar performance by Atlantas rotation, allowing only one run and five hits before he was lifted for a pinch-hitter. He actually lowered the cumulative ERA for Atlantas starters, already the best in the majors, from 1.54 to 1.52. "Were just trying to keep our team in the game," Teheran said. "Were doing a great job." Andrelton Simmons also homered for the Braves, and Jason Heyward put Atlanta up 2-1 with a seventh-inning single off Mike Dunn -- only Heywards second hit in 19 at-bats off a left-hander. Craig Kimbrel failed to hold the lead, a second straight shaky outing for the closer who was yanked in his previous appearance when he couldnt get three outs in a non-save situation against the Mets. This time, Gattis contributed to the troubles -- called for catcher interference when a swing ticked his glove -- before pinch-hitter Derek Dietrich lined one off the wall in left-centre for a game-tying double. But, with runners at second and third and no outs, Kimbrel struck out the side to keep the game 2-2. "I didnt do my job, but we came back to win the game," he said. "If we lose the game, it hurts a lot more." Anthony Varvaro (1-0) worked a scoreless inning for the win, first-place Atlantas eighth in the last 10 games. Garrett Jones homered leading off the second for Miamis first run, just the ninth homer surrendered by the Braves. Miami should have scored two runs on Deitrichs double, but pinch-runner Reed Johnson went back to tag at second base on a drive the Braves had no chance of catching. That caused Adeiny Hechevarria, running all the way from first, to slow up so he didnt pass Johnson. Hechevarria was held at third and never got any farther. "I feel terrible," Johnson said. "Thats the game right there." Miami also squandered a chance in the eighth after Uggla botched a potential inning-ending double play. Second-base umpire Marvin Hudson initially called the runner out, ruling that Uggla caught the ball but dropped it attempting to make the relay throw to first. Marlins manager Mike Redmond challenged. After a delay of nearly 5 minutes, the call finally came down from the replay centre: all runners safe. The video showed Uggla making the catch, but losing control as he grabbed the ball with his right hand -- before he actually went into his throwing motion. That left Miami with the bases loaded and only one out. But Walden fanned Casey McGehee on a called third strike and got Jones on a grounder to Uggla, who stumbled a bit just beyond the infield dirt but made the inning-ending play. NOTES: Braves LHP Mike Minor is getting close to rejoining the Braves rotation. After going six innings for Triple-A Gwinnett over the weekend, hell throw a side session before Tuesdays game against the Marlins. If all goes well, Minor would likely make his first major league start on Saturday against Cincinnati. ... Florida C Jarrod Saltalamacchia was back at Turner Field for the first time since he was traded by the Braves in 2007 in a much-debated deal that brought Mark Teixeira to Atlanta. Saltalamacchia expected to be a little emotional when he stepped on the field. "This is where it started with me," he said. Terrell Davis Jersey . - The Detroit Tigers will start the season without Jose Iglesias, though just how long the injured shortstop is sidelined will not be known until after he sees a foot and ankle specialist on Tuesday. Gary Zimmerman Jersey . -- Clippers star Blake Griffin fired off some harsh words for the Golden State Warriors after being ejected on a Christmas night turned spirited. With the 2014 CFL Draft set to take place next Tuesday in Toronto, CFL on TSN analyst Duane Forde breaks down the top prospects. Today, he looks at the offensive line. 1. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (OT, McGill) You Should Know: Over the course of his university career, Duvernay-Tardifs commitments to medical school and the family business frequently limited him to one practice per week, yet he was still the Metras Trophy winner as the Top Lineman in CIS football in 2013. The Good: His combination of size, athleticism, strength, intelligence, and untapped potential make him the most intriguing offensive line prospect produced by the CIS since Mike Schad in 1986. The Bad: Hes projected as a 4th round pick in the NFL Draft so whoever picks him wont have him for at least another year - if ever - especially considering his desire to finish med school. 2. David Foucault (OT, Montreal) The Good: At 67 and a relatively lean 320 lbs., he moves well, making him a potential ratio-breaking offensive tackle. The Bad: Despite all of his obvious tools, Foucault has yet to be consistently dominant at the university level. 3. Matthias Goossen (OC/OG, Simon Fraser) The Good: Combining toughness and intelligence, this three-time All-GNAC selection has played every position on the O-Line during his four years as a starter. The Bad: Despite having always played in Canada, he has never faced defenders who are a yard off the ball, as SFU and British Columbia high schools both play under American rules. 4. Pierre Lavertu (OC, Laval) The Good: Quick, strong and smart, he was a three-time All-Canadian and four-time All-RSEQ selection while anchoring the nations best collegiate O-Line. The Bad: His ceiling likely isnt as high as those ranked ahead of him. That said; hes as CFL ready as any prospect in the Class of 2014. 5. Tchissakid Player (OG, Northwestern State) The Good: Although he played at a smaller school, this 66, 300 lbs. guard is the only NCAA Division 1 player in the entire draft class. The Winnipeg-born, Texas-raised lineman was a three-year starter for the Demons. The Bad: A hamstring injury suffered at the Toronto Regional Combine prevented him from participating in the main CFL Combine, which kept scouts from comparing him head to head with other top prospects. Other Contenders: - Jas Dhillon (OG, British Columbia) - 2013 Canada West All-Star; former DL, 2013 was his only year on offence- Terry Hart (OG, St. Francis Xavier) - 2013 AUS All-Star; 32 bench press reps tied Lavertu atop O-Line group at CFL Combine- Kyle Paterson (OG, Regina) - from same hometown (Weyburn, SK) and college as CFLers Brendon LaBatte and Brett Jones; 5.22 second 40-yard dash and 30 bench press reps at CFL Combine- Quinn Everett (OG, Mount Allison) - college defensive lineman shows potential as a guard; dominated the O-Line testing at the Montreal Regional Combine - Aaron Wheaton (OG, Toronto) - 65", 295 lbs.; participated in 2013 East West Bowl Also On The Radar (alphabetically): Ahmed Abusafeyeh (Tiffin/Windsor AKO Fratmen), Kwinton Albino (Manitoba), Stephen Armstrong (Mount Allison), Lane Bryksa (Saskatchewan), Renaud Lafrance-Longtin (Sherbrooke), Fréderik Landry-Simard (Concordia) Analysis: During the 2013 season, the CFL made two significant changes to the leagues draft eligibility rules. Under the old system, all players became draft eligible four years after joining a college program. Now, prospects at U.S. schools become draft eligible upon completion of their college eligibility, eliminating redshirt juniors ("futures") from the draft. Those at Canadian schools now become draft eligible three years after using their first year of CIS eligibility. In other words, if a player redshirts in his first university season, his draft year gets postponed by a year (i. Ronnie Hillman Jersey. e. hed now be draft eligible after his fifth year instead of his fourth).  In this "transition year", no position group was impacted more by the rule changes than the offensive line. No fewer than five NCAA Division 1 O-Linemen, including outstanding UNLV tackle Brett Boyko, and a handful of top CIS hogs, like Calgarys All-Canadian guard Sukh Chung, were reclassified from 2014 to the 2015 draft class. In addition, a CFL policy requiring "non-resident" Canadians to apply for their non-import status (even when they clearly qualify) led to Penn States Winnipeg-born star guard John Urschel also being excluded from this draft class. As a result, what wouldve been a bumper crop of high end offensive line prospects was reduced to just four (Duvernay-Tardif, Foucault, Goossen, and Lavertu), followed by a lot of uncertainty about the next tier of prospects. Bear in mind that while the eligibility rules have changed, the CFLs need for non-import offensive linemen hasnt, and the effect on this years draft process will be twofold. First, with Duvernay-Tardif most certainly NFL-bound, the demand for the other top linemen will be intense. For teams whose need is more immediate, theyll look to Lavertu and Goossen, as their learning curves wont be as steep as Foucaults. Regardless of the order, those three could easily be the first three players off the board and will surely all be Top Five selections. Secondly, with the leagues constant need for non-import O-Linemen, teams looking for OL depth will be forced to reach for lower ranked prospects (i.e. draft them earlier than their ability suggests they should be picked). As for Duvernay-Tardif, the gap between the top four or five O-Line prospects and the rest of the class means that his NFL interest shouldnt cause him to fall as far as he would have in a deeper draft pool. As a precedent, Ill point to the 2005 CFL Draft. Much like the Class of 2014, there werent a lot of "cant miss" offensive line prospects. A few days before that draft, the clear No. 1 prospect, Toledo tackle Nick Kaczur, had been selected in the 3rd round of the NFL Draft. Despite the limited supply of upper echelon O-Linemen, the demand for non-import blockers remained the same, as eight of the first nineteen selections were offensive linemen, including Kaczur, who went 9th overall. Simply put, the Toronto Argonauts, who chose him, felt that the likelihood of Kaczur returning to Canada within a few years was greater than the likelihood of the linemen who were still available developing into quality starters within the same time frame. In the same draft a similar line of thinking led to the second-ranked O-Lineman, Chris Best, going 4th overall despite having already committed to a Masters degree program that would keep him from turning pro until two years later. Godfrey Ellis was chosen 10th overall even after measuring in at 510 at the Combine. The fact that Jeff Keeping, a college tight end, had never played O-Line didnt stop him from being drafted - as a guard - 18th overall. John Comiskey went one spot later even though he hadnt played a single snap in the previous season. Fast forward to 2014, where the point is this. The top offensive linemen will be snapped up early. Once Lavertu, Goossen, Foucault, and Player are gone, teams will have to evaluate the likelihood and timeline of Duvernay-Tardif becoming a CFL lineman vs. the likelihood and timeline of the same happening for the remaining O-Linemen on the board. The "tipping point" could be reached by the end of Round 1 and probably no later than Round 3. cheap jerseyscheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys Ray Ban Outlet Michael Kors Outlet Michael Kors Sale Cheap Michael Kors ' ' '

burst on a layup for a 38-35 lead six minutes in.

College Park, MD (SportsNetwork. Nike Air Force One Noir .com) - Jake Layman scored 17 points and No. 19 Maryland rallied in the second half for a 67-57 victory over USC Upstate on Saturday. Melo Trimble had 14 points and 12 rebounds while Evan Smotrycz added 10 points and six boards for the Terrapins (10-1), who have won their past three games. That was a really good team we played, said Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon. Their zone was tough, their offense was really good and they have really good players. They did not have any weak spots. Fred Miller gave 13 points, five boards and five assists and Ty Greene added 11 for the Spartans (8-3), who had a three-game winning streak broken. The Terrapins were trailing by four points to start the second half, and were down by seven when Jared Nickens hit a 3-pointer that kicked off a 12-2 run with Layman capping the burst on a layup for a 38-35 lead six minutes in. Another 11-2 run allowed Maryland to create some distance, as Damonte Dodds free throws with just over nine minutes to play gave the team a 10-point lead. The Spartans kept the game from getting out of hand and cut their deficit to just four when Miller made a 3-pointer just inside of two minutes remaining. Layman, though, countered with a 3-pointer and USC Upstate didnt make a bucket the rest of the way. I thought we did a lot of good things, but we had three or four possessions and made mistakes, said USC Upstate head coach Eddie Payne. You cannot make errors against a team like this, because they make you pay and Maryland did that. Maryland led for much of the first half, but a jumper from Greene started an 8-0 run by the Spartans that helped the team take a 28-24 lead into the locker room. The Italian, chasing a British Open place as well as his first title in four years, was joined by Scottish pair Alastair Forsyth and Craig Lee and South African Justin Walters. A 2010 Ryder Cup winner, Molinari opened with three straight birdies at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington and collected eight in all on the par-71 West Course. "The front nine was probably as good as Ive played in a long time," he said. Lee had maybe the most impressive start with his 7-under 65 on the tougher par-72 East Course, with eight birdies and just one bogey on No. 17. "Its really hard to figure out where you are in the field with two golf courses, and with the East being slightly tougher I feel like Im in a good position," Lee said. Forsyth and Walters both carded 64s on the West, with Forsyth not dropping a shot all day. They led by one shot. SAKHIR, Bahrain -- Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg took pole position at the Bahrain Grand Prix on Saturday, finishing ahead of Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull and Fernando Alonso of Ferrari for the event held amid anti-government protests in the divided nation. Nike Roshe Run Pas Cher . Rosberg posted his second career pole and the best performance of the year for the 27-year-old German who has retired early in two of the three races. He was forced by the team to finish behind teammate Lewis Hamilton in fourth place in Malaysia. "Yes! Come on guys, thats how its done," Rosberg yelled into the radio. Rosberg timed 1:32.330 to finish 0.254 in front of Vettel -- the three-time defending Formula One champion -- and 0.337 ahead of Alonso, who won last weeks Chinese Grand Prix. "As a team, I think we worked really during the night to improve the car because yesterday we were really struggling," Rosberg said. "So thats been going well. Im really, really happy. Thats a fantastic result. Thats great for tomorrow." The race has been criticized by rights groups who have accused the government of trying to gloss over abuses, while anti-government opponents have had almost daily protests over demands for a greater voice in the Gulf countrys affairs. Several clashes were reported Saturday, including in the old quarter of the capital Manama and a village close to the circuit where protesters set fires. Some of those protests on Friday turned violent, with clashes between thousands of stone-throwing youths and riot police firing bird shot and tear gas. Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, touring the paddock, said he was pleased that the protests have been mostly peaceful and called the race a force of good for the country. Asked about the empty stands, he said about 15,000 came to the 45,000-seat circuit Friday and he expected bigger crowds Saturday. "Keeping Bahrain connected to the international community is a very important thing for us," the crown prince said. "It stops people from looking inwards and allows us to look outwards. It gives people connections to the outside world they otherwise wouldnt have. I think today and this weekend is about sport and transcending conflicts and celebrating what is great about humanity." Meanwhile on the track, Vettel has struggled much of the season to adjust to the softer tires compounds this year. He said he was "not disappointed" to be starting second. He only has one pole all season. "Congratulations to Nico. He put a very strong lap in. It was all his today," Vettel said. "When I got told the gap to P1, to Nico, it was clear that even with the perfect lap he was unbeatable today. But nevertheless, very happy." Fastest in third practice, Alonso had the chance to better Rosbergs time but committed several errors on his final lap. The Spaniard later said the team realized they were about a half-a-tenth or one-tenth slower than their fastest lap after the miscues so "we decided to come in just to save one lap on this tires." "Very, very happy with third place," Alonso said. "Normally in qualifying, were struggling a lot but today the car was very competitive in qualifying and this puts us in a strong position to start tomorrows race with the group of leaders and fight for the podium with a little bit more margin." Hamilton was fourth but will start ninth following a five-grid penalty for a gear box change. Mark Webber of Red Bull, who was fifth but was given a three-grid penalty last week in China, will start seventh. This will be Webbers 200th grand prix. The penalty is another headache for Hamilton. He has struggled with the hot and sandy conditions in practice, finishing no higher than 10th in the first two sessions and damaged his rear left tire at the end of the third. Hamilton has had a successful start in his first season at Mercedes after joining from McLaren. He has finished on the podium in the past two races and took pole position at the Chinese Grand Prix. The dusty and hot track was not kind to Lotus drivers, with Kimi Raikkonen only ninth fastest and his teammate Romain Grosjean managing 11th. McLaren also struggled, fulfilling a prediction made by Team Principal Martin Whitmarsh that its car would have trouble with the Bahrain circuit. Jenson Button was 10th fastest while teammate Sergio Perez was 12th. The crown prince also dismissed allegations by rights groups that the race is used by the Sunni-led government to gloss over problems with its majority Shiite population. The race was cancelled in 2011 due to the Arab Spring-inspired uprising and was overshadowed last year by massive protests outside the circuit -- including an The race last year was overshadowed by the huge anti-government protests and a firebomb that briefly delayed a Force India car and prompted the team to pull out of the second practice. "Weve never used this race to say that everything is fine," the crown prince said. "We recognize there are issues in the country but they are to be solved through a political process, which is well under way. I can name at least four other grand prix venues which have political problems but dont seem to attract that kind of attention." Adidas Zx 750 Bleu Pas Cher . Canada is looking to end a five-year gold medal drought that dates back to 2010, when a loss to the United States in the final snapped a previous run of five straight titles from 2005-2009. There is unfinished business for many returning players after a fourth-place finish last year. A 2-1 loss to Russia in the bronze medal game sent Canada to its second straight tournament without a medal - only the second time in World Junior history that Canada has been held without a medal in consecutive years (1979-1981) Canada has seven returning players with forwards Curtis Lazar, Connor McDavid, Sam Reinhart, Nicolas Petan, Frederik Gauthier, defenceman Josh Morrissey and goaltender Zach Fucale. I was disappointed with how we played last year and the result we got, Lazar told the Canadian Press on Monday, reminiscing on the loss to Finland in last years semis and the defeat to Russia in the bronze-medal game. Second chances dont come around too often. Were fortunate to have this chance. Lazar, on loan from the Ottawa Senators, was named team captain on Monday with Buffalo Sabres prospect Sam Reinhart and potential No. 1 pick in the 2015 NHL draft Conner McDavid assigned as alternates. I want it to be loud. Thats the biggest thing, said Lazar. Regardless if were out there blocking a shot, hitting a guy or scoring a goal, we want our fans to support us and cheer us on. Its going to be huge, but in saying that we need to be able to manage the crowd and get them behind us right off the start. Montreal Canadiens prospect Martin Reway, Boston Bruins prospect Peter Cehlarik and Robert Lantosi are the only three returning forwards this year but a young group of talent including the likes of Matus Sokel, Patrik Koys and Dominik Briestensky give Slovakia a few legitimate offensive options. With only one defensive returnee, 17-year-old 2015 draft prospect Erik Cernak, the Slovaks will face an uphill climb against a superior Canadian attack. We want to play a fast game. Fast on the forecheck, fast with the puck, fast at getting the puck back, Groulx said on Tuesday. On Thursday, the head coach said he was ready to see his team on the ice in a meaningful game, Its time to play and well be ready. We dont want to be part of scrums after the whistle or anything like that, said Groulx. When you look at our team, we have a lot of skilled players that dont play like that (in the CHL/NHL). According to a report from ESPN, the NFL’s custom – set up long before allegations the New England Patriots deflated balls ahead of their AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts – is to use independent and impartial equipment managers and ball attendants for the Super Bowl. Hamilton, the 2008 champion, started sixth on the grid. Team principal Martin Whitmarsh said 2014 has already started for McLaren, and it was important to finish "a long, hard and disappointing" season with the teams "best grand prix of the year." Jenson Button finished fourth at Interlagos for McLarens best result of 2013, and teammate Sergio Perez had a remarkable sixth-place finish after starting 19th. They hadnt finished higher than fifth heading into Sao Paulo. "This is a great way to end the year, and now our focus turns squarely to 2014," said Button, who started 14th at the Brazilian GP. "McLaren is an incredibly strong and powerful organization and, believe me, we will fight back." The finish in Brazil also meant McLaren became the first team in F1 history to have both cars classified in every race of the season. In addition, Button became the first British driver to race in 247 grands prix, surpassing the record of David Coulthard. "Undoubtedly, that was our best grand prix of the year," Whitmarsh said. "Its frustrating to have to say that after a race in which our drivers finished only fourth and sixth, but its also true." It was the first time in decades that McLaren drivers failed too reach the podium in a season.http://www.superstarsupercolor.fr/homme-femme-adidas-originals-superstar-supercolor-pack-chaussures-boutique-en-ligne.html. Button ended ninth in the drivers standings and Perez was only 11th. "2013 has been a long, hard and disappointing year," Whitmarsh said, adding that the team is already working on incorporating the new rule changes for next season. "Formula One is a relentlessly demanding sport, and next seasons new regulations are already presenting all the teams with a daunting array of technical challenges," he said. "For quite some time weve been working extremely hard on those technical challenges, and our focus will be unstinting and unwavering from now onwards, throughout the winter. "In other words, the 2014 season starts this evening," Whitmarsh said after Sundays race. Teams will have to switch from 2.4-litre V8 engines to a 1.6-litre V6 turbocharged unit near year, a move that will demand significant changes in the design of cars. McLaren will also have a new driver next year as Perez will be replaced by rookie Kevin Magnussen of Denmark. "Ive learned so much from everyone at McLaren," said Perez, who is still without a ride for next year. "The best team Ive ever raced with, and I wish every single one of them all the best for the future. I wish Jenson and Kevin all the best for the future." Next season McLaren wont have sponsor Vodafone, which was a partner for seven years. cheap jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys Ray Ban OutletMichael Kors Outlet Michael Kors Sale Cheap Michael Kors ' ' '

f a new home for the Bills is very helpful,

MILWAUKEE -- Every shot Caron Butler made helped dull the pain of a recent root canal. Nike Air Max 2016 For Sale . Ending a nine-game losing streak? That gave the Milwaukee Bucks veteran forward a reason to smile. Butler scored 30 points two days after major dental work and the Bucks rallied from 13 points down in the third quarter for a 104-101 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night. "I dont have that much energy," Butler said with a smile. "Im going to go home, go to sleep. Just relax." A well-deserved break after shooting 12 of 21 and leading the charge by the Bucks bench in the fourth quarter. All on his bobblehead night, too. Butler was questionable for the game because he was still getting over his trip to the dentist. "I wasnt feeling good yesterday, feeling extremely weak," he said. Coach Larry Drew "believed in me tonight and gave me an opportunity. Thats why it was even more special." Brandon Knight added 16 points against the team that traded him in the off-season, while backup centre Miroslav Raduljica added eight points and eight rebounds. He was part of the reserve corps -- with Khris Middleton (10 points) and Luke Ridnour (eight points) -- that helped close the gap. The Bucks trailed 76-63 in the third quarter, largely due to Brandon Jennings, who finished with 30 points for Detroit. But Butler provided a boost with his jumper in the fourth and the Bucks held on late. Josh Smith missed two foul shots with about 5 seconds left and Rodney Stuckey missed a desperation 3 at the buzzer. "Its important we keep the attitude and intensity. I think we got a little comfortable, but we cant let that happen," Jennings said. "No matter what their record is, thats an NBA team over there. At 8-33, the Bucks have the worst record in the NBA, but received a sorely needed confidence boost at the midpoint of the season. "I told our guys after the game, its nice to get off that losing streak. Lets enjoy the moment, remember what this feels like tomorrow," Drew said. "By no stretch of the imagination is losing fun." Knight, who was traded for Jennings, also had nine assists and six rebounds, while Ersan Ilyasova added 12 points. Greg Monroe added 18 points for Detroit and Stuckey finished 23. The last few minutes found Jennings and Knight guarding each other on the perimeter. Jennings blocked Knight with about 7 seconds left, but Smith missed the two foul shots at the other end. The Pistons had one last chance after a contested possession was ruled in favour of Detroit. Stuckeys 3-point attempt from the corner sailed harmlessly into the side of the glass. "We made a few bad decisions on both ends of the floor, but I gave up a lot of offensive rebounds so I have to slap myself on the wrist for that," said centre Andre Drummond, who finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds. A game after going scoreless against the Clippers, Jennings shot 11 of 23 against the team that drafted him in the first round in 2009. Facing off against Knight at one point in the third quarter, Jennings hit a deep 3 to give Detroit a 76-63 lead, then turned to the crowd and pointed his index finger to his forehead. The Bucks started chipping away. With the shot clock winding down at the end of the third quarter, Butler hit a long 3 to get Milwaukee within 84-81. "That was definitely a momentum-changer. If we get that rebound and secure that ball, we go into the fourth up seven or eight points," Pistons coach Maurice Cheeks said. Just another highlight from a memorable game for Butler. His play off the bench was especially important given the Bucks were without starting centre Larry Sanders and veteran guard O.J. Mayo due to illness. As for Butlers bobblehead doll, the likeness was close enough. "It looks like my cousin," he said, "but itll do, we are related." NOTES: The Pistons, the NBAs top offensive rebounding team coming into the night at 14.4 per game, were outrebounded on the offensive glass, 12-9 ... Milwaukee G Luke Ridnour wore a sleeve around the right wrist he sprained on Saturday against the Spurs. ... BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Dont rule out Niagara Falls as a potential future home of the Buffalo Bills. Several officials told The Associated Press that a newly formed Bills stadium task force of public and private leaders seeking to bolster the teams long-term viability is considering sites that would put it closer to the teams burgeoning Ontario fan base. "Were looking at Niagara County," Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy told the AP this week. "Were open to looking at a number of venues." Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster confirmed Niagara County was discussed as an option during the inaugural meeting last week of the newly formed New Stadium Working Group committee. Duffy made clear "that all options should be on the table," Dyster said, adding that includes Niagara County and even Batavia, about halfway between Buffalo and Rochester. That goes beyond the groups initial directive, which was first limited to seeking potential stadium sites in Erie County, where Buffalo is located. Another idea is having the Bills relocate their headquarters to the University at Buffalo campus in the Erie County town of Amherst, where a new practice facility would be built and shared with the schools football team. That proposal would satisfy a long-term need for a Mid-American Conference program seeking to broaden its profile. Though not a member of the working group, New York state Sen. Tim Kennedy told the AP he is aware of the preliminary discussions tying the Bills and the school. A person familiar with the discussions confirmed the Bills/UB plan has been raised. That person wasnt authorized to publicly discuss the subjects raised in the private meeting and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity. Duffy and Dyster are among 20 members of the stadium group, which was established to make recommendations on whether the Bills require a new facility or should continue playing at Ralph Wilson Stadium, their 41-year-old home in Orchard Park. The group was formed as part of a 10-year, $271-million lease agreement the team reached with the state and Erie County in December 2012. The groups role in helping determine the Bills future took on more significance after Ralph Wilson, the teams owner and founder, died on March 25. Wilsons widow, Mary Wilson, is now overseeing the team until the franchise is sold, which raises the possibility of the Bills relocating under a new owner. The Bills are essentially locked into playing at their current home through the 2019 season, because the lease features a $400 million penalty in the event the team broke it. In 2020, the Bills have a one-time opportunity to opt out of the lease ffor about $28 million. Air Max 2016 Womens Sale. Toronto and Los Angeles are regarded potential suitors. The new owner will have final say on any stadium proposal. Its incumbent upon the working group, which includes U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, to present a framework of viable options that provide the best chance of keeping the team in western New York. "We have many very good tools to help that happen," Schumer told the AP. "I think there is a view that us showing early interest and the potential of a new home for the Bills is very helpful, because we want to show an owner that we want to do what it take to keep the Bills in Buffalo." Ralph Wilson Stadium is currently undergoing $130 million in upgrades. The work includes structural upgrades and adding fan amenities to bring the facility up to modern-day NFL standards. The Bills presence has been regarded as key in helping an economically hard-hit region maintain a national identity. As the NFLs only New York-based franchise, the team generates about $20 million in direct annual tax revenue for the state. Niagara Falls is 30 minutes closer by car than Orchard Park to a growing southern Ontario fan base. The Bills estimate Canadians make up about 18 per cent of their season-ticket base. Kennedy favours the proposal of linking the Bills and the university but is against a stadium site outside of Erie County. "The Buffalo Bills were born in Buffalo and should stay in Buffalo," Kennedy said. "At least in Erie County. If were talking about a new stadium Id like to see it built in Buffalo proper." Kennedy said a new stadium with a dome or a retractable roof could be part of a larger development, including a new convention centre. The new facility would boost efforts to re-energize downtown Buffalo, he said, and could even make the city a contender for hosting the Super Bowl, he said. Former Erie County Executive Joel Giambra said the southern Ontario market is critical to the Bills future. Giambra said Wilson discussed with him the possibility of the team playing home games in St. Catharines, Ontario, while maintaining its headquarters in New York. "They were aggressively trying to figure out how to tap that Canadian marketplace because of the economics," Giambra said. Dyster is aware of discussions regarding the advantages of Niagara Falls location, but said its premature to suggest what recommendations might emerge. "The critical thing here is that we all have to come together as a region to make certain that we keep the Bills here," Dyster said. "If we lose the Bills, were all losers." cheap jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys Ray Ban Outlet Michael Kors Outlet Michael Kors Sale Cheap Michael Kors ' ' '

UNIONDALE, N. Cheap Nike Air Max 2016 For Sale .Y. -- With John Tavares and the rest of the Islanders offence clicking, it hardly mattered who was protecting New Yorks net at the other end. The Islanders captain scored three goals and added two assists, prized rookie Ryan Strome scored the first goal of his NHL career, and Kevin Poulin won in relief of injured starter Evgeni Nabokov in New Yorks 7-3 victory over the Dallas Stars on Monday night. After falling behind 2-0, the Islanders scored four times in the second period and carried a 4-3 lead into the third. "It was great, the intensity and pace we came out with in the second period," Tavares said. "Great to see not just a few guys get it going, but everyone really fed off the energy." Tavares scored his first at 7:29 of the second period off a terrific pass from Thomas Vanek. He added two more in the third, netting a power-play goal with 3:07 remaining to push the lead to 7-3. It was the captains 20th goal of the season. "A lot of people dream of those nights," Islanders coach Jack Capuano said. "Anytime (Tavares) has a night like that, its nice to win the hockey game." But the comeback victory came at a cost as starting goalie Evgeni Nabokov left with what appeared to be a groin injury. He was put on the injured list shortly after the game. The 38-year-old Nabokov returned to action on Dec. 14 after he missed 11 games because of a groin injury sustained against Detroit on Nov. 16. New York recalled goalie Anders Nilsson from Bridgeport of the AHL later Monday night. With the Islanders on the power play early in the second period and trailing 2-0, Strome got New York on the board by putting a wrist shot past goalie Kari Lehtonen. It took the 20-year-old Strome 11 NHL games to finally break the ice. He said it might have been the longest scoring drought he had endured, and he was starting to feel the pressure. "Its nice to get it out of the way," Strome said. "Hopefully, I can just start playing now. (It was) starting to bug me a little bit. I had a couple of great chances. Its a tough league to score. Youve got to take advantage of the opportunities." Peter Regin, Brock Nelson, and Brian Strait also added goals for the Islanders, who scored six times in a span of 24:38 and won for the fourth time in five games. New York won in regulation at home for the first time since Nov. 12. The Islanders were 2-6-4 in their previous 12 games at Nassau Coliseum. Poulin stopped 13 of 15 shots after replacing Nabokov at 12:54 of the first. Nabokov made seven saves on eight shots. Poulin will likely be back in the net Tuesday night when the Islanders begin a six-game trip at Toronto. Dallas built its 2-0 lead on first-period goals by Jamie Benn and Erik Cole, but Lehtonen couldnt make the margin stick. He allowed seven goals on 43 shots. "Thats probably the most disappointing (game) of the whole year," Stars coach Lindy Ruff said. "We were outskated. We couldnt win one-on-one battles. They basically looked how we usually look. Their legs were better. Their energy level was better. Their puck management was better. That might have been our worst game of the year. "It was a team giveaway." After Strome opened the scoring for the Islanders, New York tied it on a goal by Tavares 7:29 into the second. The Islanders took a 3-2 lead just two minutes later on Regins second of the season. Valeri Nichushkin then tied it for Dallas by scoring on a power play. But Brock Nelson capped off a frenetic second period by scoring with 28 seconds left to put the Islanders back on top 4-3. Tavares completed his hat trick by scoring at the 6:19 and 16:53 of the third period. Jamie Benn opened the scoring for Dallas 5:01 in, putting a backhander past Nabokov, but shortly after, Nabokov was forced to leave the game, and Poulin yielded the Stars second tally almost instantly when Cole coaxed a soft backhander in from just shy of the blue line. The Stars will remain in the tri-state area this week, visiting the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, and the New York Rangers on Friday before hosting the Islanders on Sunday. NOTES: New York forward Kyle Okposo missed the game due to the birth of his first child. ... Vanek had two assists to extend his point streak to nine games. ... The Stars activated defencemen Trevor Daley and Sergei Gonchar from the injured list before the game. Daley had missed 14 games with a lower body injury. Gonchar sat out five because of concussion symptoms. Cheap Nike Air Max 2015 Black . You can watch all the action on TSN and TSN GO beginning at 8:30pm et/5:30pm pt.
